WOLTMAN RIGS RECEIVES NEW BRAND IDENTITY FOR GLOBAL IMPACT

Woltman piling and drilling rigs are world-famous in the Benelux. This beautiful, traditional brand, founded in the Netherlands, is ready to conquer the world. Woltman Piling & Drilling Rigs was established in 1989 by Jaap Woltman, together with his sons Hans and Henk. Since 1968, Jaap had been an independent entrepreneur, mainly active in the rental of draglines. In addition, Jaap himself modified, repaired, and overhauled cranes and excavators, and the first contacts with the foundation industry were established. In 1995, the ‘Woltmen’ delivered their first 40-ton piling rig. Three years later, a special 160-ton drilling rig was built, based on a sketch and a lot of trust. The machines are a beloved product due to their very high quality and the good reputation that the Netherlands has abroad. Since 2016, Woltman has been part of the Dieseko Group.

Built by craftsmen

Woltman is a specialist brand. The state-of-the-art Woltman piling and drilling rigs are known for their stability, relatively low weight, and functional design. Operators praise the controls, visibility, and the safe and solid construction. The crane rigs are almost always customized to the client’s wishes based on a standard model. The foundation of each rig is a powerful engine that also drives the hydraulic system, to which attachments such as a drilling motor, vibratory hammer, or pile hammer are connected. Woltman mainly uses Caterpillar engines in combination with high-quality Bosch-Rexroth hydraulic components. If more hydraulic power is required, a power pack can be mounted at the rear of the machine.

The range of machines goes up to 160 tons and a leader length of more than 50 meters. The drilling rigs are used for, among other things, displacement drilling and CFA drilling, with a drilling torque of up to 500 kNm possible. The winches are synchronized, and with a pull-down system (optional), efficiency is improved. Due to their maneuverability, power, and stability, work reports show production rates up to 30% higher compared to other rigs.

The rigs are currently still equipped with Stage V diesel engines to limit environmental impact, but the ambition is to make a sustainable shift towards electrification. In the future, Woltman aims to contribute to the zero-emission construction site to help reduce the footprint of its clients. At this moment, the first electric drilling rig, the 90DRe, is being developed for BAM Infra.
